Montessori Children's House of Denver Summer Camp


Summer Camp Program 2008
June 2nd – July 25th 2008


Throughout the day the Montessori Methodology and Materials will be utilized. Students will participate in different mediums to explore, create and construct. Art activities, cooking projects, water play and fieldtrips are apart of each session

Eco Art
June 2nd –13th
Reclaim and reuse found or recycled items to make art. Students will collect from home and/or from around the school, found objects to make art. Items such as fabric, old toys, broken appliances, old computers, bike parts, paper towel or tissue rolls, empty food boxes, ect. Junk items will be transformed in to treasured items.

Nature Studies
June 16th - 27th
In conjunction with cultivating the school garden, children will make their own terrarium plant garden. Several nature walks will take place during the session, while walking students will collect items from nature to make personalized nature pals and nature collogues. To culminate this session students will make a nature stories scrapbook.

Theatre and Imagination
June 30th – July 11th
Students will discover the joy and energy of creative play and imagination. Through the use of costumes, props and accessories the children will create their own play or puppet show. Elementary students will write their own script. Primary students will perform the “Stone Soup Rock Opera.” Toddlers will make puppets and sing songs that correlate to the puppets. To culminate this session there will be a performance by Playground Theatre.

Art to Wear
July 14th – 25th
Create Wearable art! Children will be able to add his or her own flair to their current wardrobe. They will experiment on fabric with tie-dye and batik to create the clothing and accessories of their dreams. Teachers will support the design and creation of custom jewelry, shirts, hats and more.
